What are the main points – What is social mobility and accent bias, how does it impact individuals and organisations, both positively and negatively, & what practical steps can individuals and organisations take.
In this session looking at how social mobility and accent bias impacts individuals and organisation we are joined by a panel of experts, ready to share their experience and expertise.
- Immie Carr - Chief Community Officer of the 93% club will be chairing the conversation, with insights into how state educated individuals experience barriers in the workplace, and how we can build networks to create a fairer start to help people reach their potential
- Helen Dallimore – Director and Head of Training for Byrne Dean will bring her experience of working with large organisations around these issues, and what can go wrong if they aren’t properly considered
- Winona Chan – Legal Counsel for Aldermore Bank, and author of the recent article “Accent bias and the silent filter in law” for the Law Society Gazette, will be exploring the link between accent bias and mental wellbeing
- Jenn Barnett – Head of Inclusion and Diversity and ESG at Grant Thornton, will share her lived experience of social mobility along with her experience of creating meaningful, impactful interventions
