Will Merry

Will Merry is an Associate in the London office of global law firm, McDermott Will & Emery.  He focuses his practice on a range of corporate crime and investigations-related matters, including those relating to anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, fraud, blackmail and sanctions in both contentious and non-contentious contexts. Prior to joining McDermott in 2022, Will trained at Herbert Smith Freehills in London, qualifying into its Corporate Crime and Investigations team in 2019. He has also spent periods on secondment to Willis Towers Watson and NatWest Group.

Will is co-chair of his firm’s Wellbeing Committee and has been heavily involved in the firm’s efforts to implement the Mindful Business Charter since it signed up in October 2023.  He has a particular interest in mental wellbeing, based on his own experiences and those of people close to him, having spoken about these issues at Universities and professionally. At the core of Will’s motivation for becoming a trustee of the Mindful Business Charter organisation is a belief that professional excellence is not mutually exclusive to strong mental wellbeing and that small changes culturally in an organisation can make a substantial, positive difference. He hopes that his perspective as a relatively junior lawyer will help to build on the charity’s important work improving work practices as it grows.
