Philip is the General Counsel of Consumer Banking and Payments at Barclays Bank PLC. Philip has worked for Barclays for fourteen years, spending time at both the investment as well as the retail bank, including acting as the General Counsel of Barclays Bank UK PLC – Barclays’ ring-fenced retail bank. Philip trained and qualified with Clifford Chance LLP spending time in their London and New York offices. Prior to Clifford Chance, Philip graduated from the University of Exeter with an LLB in Law. Philip also leads the diversity and inclusion agenda for the Barclays Legal Function globally and is passionate about continuing to grow a culture where everyone can bring their whole selves to work. Philip is one of the founders of the Mindful Business Charter and was inspired to do so by a belief in the need for the legal industry to work together to resolve many of the workplace behaviours which undermine mental wellbeing. Outside of work, Philip enjoys spending time in the West Sussex countryside and, in fair weather, can be found sailing along the UK’s south coast.
